Bob Marley and The Wailers - Catch a Fire - 70s

Catch a Fire is the first major album from The Wailers who are a reggae band from Jamaica. It was released on the 13th of April 1973, through Island Records. It was this album that got the band well known, and Bob Marley as famous as he is now adays who was their lead singer. They are most reknowned for their confrontational views.
It reached number 171 in the UK and in America, in the 'Pop Albums and Black Album Charts' it reached number 51. It is featured in 'Rolling Stones' list of the 500 greatest albums of all time as number 123.
The band is made up of, Bob Marley (guitar + vocals), Peter Tosh (organ, piano, guitar + vocals), Bunny Wailer (bongos, congas + vocals), Aston Barrett (bass), John Bundrick (Keyboards + Synthesizer) and Wayne Perkins (guitar).
Some of the people that worked on the album were, Chris Blackwell and Bob Marley (production), Carlton Lee and Tony Platt (Engineering) and Bob Weiner and Rod Dyer (design). Once the album had been completed, the multitrack tapes of the album, was remixed in the UK, with some of the guitar tracks being re done and some more piano and synthesizers being added.
The genre of this album is just simply reggae style.
The reason why i chose this album is because it has a chilled feel to it and is well mixed and mastered and it compliments the classic reggae style.

Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet - 80's

Bon Jovi released Slippery When Wet in August 1986, their  third studio album with Vertigo Records. It was such a huge success that it stayed at number one for 8 weeks. It sold over 28 million  worldwide and over 12 million in the Uk. It was named the top selling album of 1987. The album is featured in the book 1001 albums you must hear before you die.

The genre is classed as glam metal/hard rock, but this album i would definitely also class this album as classic rock. They are an iconic band, who when you think about rock music, they are up there with the best.

It was recorded at the Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver in 1986. Bon Jovi are made up of Jon Bon Jovi (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Richie Sambora (lead guitar and backing vocals), Alec John Such (bass and backing vocals), David Bryan (Keyboards and backing vocals) and Tico Torres (drums). In 2005. It was re-issued as a Duel-disc. The producer of this album was Bruce Fairbairn, the engineer/mixer was Bob Rock and the assistant engineer was Tim Crich. The digital remastering engineer was George Marino.

I chose this album because i have grown up liking Bon Jovi and have seen them live 3 times. The classic rock sound is brilliant and the recording of this album lives up to their previous albums.

Suicide Silence - No Time To Bleed - 00's

No Time To Bleed is Suicide Silence's second studio album and was released on the 30th of June by Century Media Records. Suicide are made up of 5 members, Mitch Luker (vocals), Chris Garza (rhythm guitar), Mark Heylmun (lead guitar), Dan Kenny (bass guitar) and Alex Lopez (drums). Mitch Luker writes all his own lyrics.
No Time to Bleed was released in 5 different versions, standard version, the Exclusive Hot Topic Edition, the iTunes edition, the vinyl edition, and the Maximum Bloodshed Edition.
The genre of this album is called deathcore. Which is a genre made up of aspects of death metal and metal core and can also involve hardcore punk. Deathcore consists of metal riffs, breakdowns and blast beats, which this album is full of! The mix of genres to form a seperate new genre is a fairly new thing, and shows how music has evolved over the decades.
It reached no. 32 in the charts and sold 14, 000 copies in the US only shortly after they released the album. They decided the album would be tracked, rather than recorded live such as their first album The Cleansing.
Machine, an American producer, did the production, mixing, engineering and programming. Will Putney worked on the tracking, editing and helped with the additional mixing. Other people that helped were Jayson Dezuzio, Adam Schoeller and Bill Purcell. The recording was done by David Zamora.
A 911 emergency phone call was recorded for the song ‘...And Then She Bled’ which was recorded on the 18th of Feburary 2009.
I chose this album because they are amazing live, and clarity of the recording is up to a really high standard and the guitar riff textures on the songs make the songs what they are. The speed and technicality of the drums is also a reason why i chose this album. Also, Mitch Luker’s screaming range, from his high screams to his lows, are incredible.
